Jason Lien Authors Article for Minnesota Shopping Center Association Publication on Owner Liability for Tenant Improvements

Jason Lien, a partner in Maslon's Litigation Group and Construction Law Group, has published an article in the August 2008 edition of the Minnesota Shopping Center Association publication MSCA Connection.  The article is titled "Avoiding the Unwanted: How to Prevent Owner Liability for Tenant Improvements" and discusses how owners can protect themselves from being subject to mechanic's liens for unpaid tenant improvements.  Lien points out in the article, "Minnesota law states that any property owner who knows tenant improvements are being performed is presumed to have authorized them and can be held responsible for paying for them through a mechanic's lien."  He explains the precautions that owners should take advantage of to protect themselves from liability.

Jason Lien's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in a wide range of substantive areas, with a special emphasis on international business litigation. He represents clients in state and federal court, and arbitrations in a variety of cases, including international trade disputes, business tort actions, shareholder claims, product liability lawsuits, and construction and real estate matters.
